How about a 64 Galaxie 500 4 door hardtop with a 427 2X4 carbs and a 4 speed, bucket seats. I know where this car still is today.

In line with the other, 427/425 Chevy post, I have seen actual photographs of a 1969 Kingswood Estate wagon that was factory-built with an L72 427/425, turbo 400 and 3.73 Positraction rear end. The last I heard, the car was part of a collection owned by a man in the Phoenix area.

There are also known to be two 1966 Plymouth Hemi 4-door sedans. Garlits owns one of them and has it on display in his museum.

My dad remembers a fellow in Bedford NS having a 65 Nova 2 door post, 327/350hp 4 speed, steel wheels with dog dish caps, was supposedly all original. Thats a bi on the oddball side but i Bet it was lots of fun!

NHRAMNL, I'm not going to start a huge discussion on the numbers of Hemi cars in weird body styles, but I can tell you there were at least a dozen Plymouth's and Dodge's in the 4 door body's built, in Coronet 440,Belvedere's 1 & 2 built by Chrysler in 66, & 67 ! I was selling Ma Mopars stuff in the Milwaukee Zone, and our dealership got the Chrysler screwup's to sell as the result of selling alot of HP cars !
We made some really good money back then selling HP cars ! I was the salesman that specalized in selling HP cars!........Unfortunately, when I quit selling cars I gave all my records to a friend who also sold Ma Mopars stuff, who passed away and all the records got disposed off ! As in CRAP ! I quit selling in Oct 68.

Bought a new 69 chevelle 300 deluxe 2 door sedan--- (street racer)---396-375 HP turbo 400 & 4:88 rear gears no radio !!!! only extra was tinted windshield for about $7-Black int/black ext---That car would fly sold it in 1980 never been in the rain or snow had under 10,000 miles never was in a car wash alwys washed it by hand---LOOKED brand new inside /out----Last I heard it was in Alabama(1982)--by the way paid under $3000 for it sold it for $17500---wish I still had it bet they did not make very many of them either---Comp 387

1969 AMC S/C Rambler.1512 built,all 390 4speed cars.Half were the loud red/white/blue paint scheme the other half white with red/blue lower side stripes.All had ram air with snorkel hood scoop.Even rarer was the 1971 S/C 360 Rambler.About 875 built in a few versions.You could get a 4bbl,2bbl,auto 3 speed 4speed.They did that to keep under the insurance radar.
Also going way back was the 1957 Rambler Rebel with fuel injection.The FI was recalled
but they were real quick back then.

A buddy of mine has a 69 Chev BelAir 2 door sdan, factory 427/425HP, 4 speed, with manual steering. Another guy from the same town had a 1970 or 71 Torino Squire woodgrain station wagon, with a "C" code 429 Cobra Jet auto, complete with the Shaker hood scoop.

I can remember being at Detroit Dragway in 1967 or 1968 and in those days some funny car teams did not have a tow vehicle so they would ask people in the stands if a fan would help the teams out by using their driver car as a tow vehicle. A guy showed up with a plain jane 4 door 66 Dodge Coronet no trim, dog dish hub caps, drab paint color. One of the funny car team members said to pop the hood to see if the car had enough power to tow the funny car. Under the hood was a factory street hemi. I looked inside the car and and it also had a 4 speed on the floor. Chrysler actually delivered a few hemi 4 speeds from the factory and this was one of them. Neat stuff.

I never had any "oddball" American muscle cars, the closest and stranges I ever came was a 30k mile Renault Fuego that I only bought because it was $300, upon driving it home it came to me and the old mans attention it was a twin turbo and intercooled at that from the factory, it was a european model that came through canada, lived there a few years, and down to Ohio.....a true 140 mile an hour 1.6 wicked fast car.

The old mans stranges car like that I remeber was a very pretty 76 Grand Prix 455 4 speed posi everything and the sink, the dealer owner ordered it special for his wife and she hated it....sold it with about 2k mikes to my dad who couldnt ever run it over about 5k till Arlen Vanke fixed it...(a dist wire would short out against teh weight and housing on the hei .... dealer could never figger it out, Vanke did in 5 minutes. As pretty as a 76 Potiac could be.....Silver , Moonroof, red vinyl buckets, mags, sharp car, I still cannot find any production numbers or refrence for a GP 4 speed so I dono, but damm I remeber the car since it was new.

Im only sad the Maserati TC by Chrysler isnt in the classification guides....oh well,, would give me another excuse to get one.
