Default Ladder bars?

Does any one still use ladder bars in super stock? My 67 camaro is in need of some updating to race again and was wondering if I should spend the $$$ and have the back half redone with a 4 link?

Jim, it is still a valid combination. The above link came from doing a search for ladder bar, there are also other discussion on the subject.

Ladder bars will work okay, if properly installed and adjusted. If the car has a good set of ladder bars properly installed it's okay to leave them in. However, if you're going to do any serious work to the rearend, and spend much money, I would not spend a bunch of money on it and leave ladder bars under it.

Hey Jim, you will be much happier with a 4 link allot of guys race ladder bar cars still and do well with them but they can be to violent at times . if you are who i am thinking you have a ss/cs or bs red with silver stripes on the side camaro with centerline wheels i have seen your car work and it does not appear to be out of control. a 4 link will change the whole attitude of your car which i will guarantee you will be happier with . my brothers and i used to have a 68 ladder bar car that we latter had back halfed with a 4link and once you get er dialed in it will hook ANYWHERE and do it consistently . you might give Gary Wisecarver a call he has done several 67-69 camaro's and one being a combination very similar to yours for guy named Jon Richardson and that thing is "STUPID FAST " i am no chassis expert but Gary definitely is and he can give you some very good insight to what you are trying to achieve and be sure you ask him about the front end he is an expert in that area also . good luck with everything and let us know what you decide (its winter we"re board) give him a call Gary Wisecarver , Rustburg VA. 1-434-332 -4511 and tell him the Tinbergs referred you good luck ,Chris Tinberg

Thanks for the replies. Yes Chris thats me I ran this car in ss/cs from 1991 thru 1999 than did a one year stint in the nmca. I remember you guys and even your late father. The car is painted all red now with black z28 stripes. Quit racing for a while but did take the car out with a bracket motor in it a couple years ago. Switched it over to a stick with a jerico just to have some fun locally here in Denver. With a 373" motor the car ran 10.60's up here which was just quick enough for ss/as. Switched to a set of legal heads for modified this winter and planned on running local super stock races and a stick class they have here. Problem is with the new index not sure if this "bracket motor " will be quick enough. If not quess just the stick bracket class for now. Thanks NHRA. Mike Lupfer here in denver is going to work on the car for me here real soon so I need to decide which direction to go with the back of the car. This car was built by wayne county back in the day for modified production. Although I updated to coil overs and a good set of ladder link type bars the car has real small wheel tubs. Car has to sit high to clear a set of 14-32"s. Also still has a dana 60. I like the old cars but before long you spend enough and you could buy a used modern GT car instead.
