I hear talk of superstock racers that have to change valve springs after 10 runs, is this for real? I know they run nearly an inch of lift, and almost 9000 rpms, but nascar runs 9000 for 500 miles. THOUGHTS.

It depend on what class you're running. Since I use the "441" casting SBC head i'm limited on how big my valve spring pocket can be cut for the 1.64 spring without hitting a water jacket, so I use the 1.55 spring and yes you get only 10-15 runs out of a set, and it could go either way depend on how high you rev your motor. I was told the hot set-up in valve springs for Super Stock are PAC . Used on a lot of Pro Stockers and Comp engines. Suppose to have long life. Check them out at racingsprings.com.

It's like anything "You get what you pay for" Comp #26082 should last over a season

I use 947 comp springs 1.85 installed ht 400 lbs on the seat will set in about 380 to 360 will last me 2 years or about 300 plus runs on my 283 520 head. I shift at 9000 same in the lights. Camshaft and rockers ratio have a lot to do with it along with harmonics. Tom
