Default Re: Lifter Bore Repair

Whoever does lifter bores will tell you probaly to do all of them. Many sbc won't clean all bores up
when correcting locations{blueprinting} when just going to .875 ford .904 will usaully clean up all
of them I would recomend put bronze bushings in they will last longer than non bushed holes. The
bushings are 1'' O.D. and can prep the I.D. for whichever size lifter you want. Make sure whoever
does it has fixture that corrects location like BHJ as example or one the newer CNC machines
that does lifter bores and everything else like Rottler F65 etc.I remachined BBC one time guy
had me dyno I did heads so I knew how much power he should have from flow numbers.it was
way off and engine was too hard to rotate. He said fix it.tore down, checked lifter bores W/ go/no
go gauge on BHJ fixture they had just been bushed by somebody they were off had to go .842-.904
to correct, rehone cyl. redeck block was out square leaking head gaskets dyno time only.rebalance
long story short remachine whole short block. With no other changes besides machining picked up
60 HP
