'89 Dodge Aries 2-door with a 2.5 Turbo engine might be a contender for A/FS. Light body, same engine/trans as the Minvans, Daytonas, etc.

The turbo's don't care much about weight. And the 2.5 is no match for them.

The only other car that might give an SRT a run in A/FS would be the '86 T2 GLHS.

Aries/Reliants never came from Chrysler with turbo motors to my knowledge. Also Marcus86GLHS has had his car in the 12.9x range with what he told me was a stock Garrett and no porting. A custom cal, +20's, 3" exhaust, and drag radials. Probably not legal weight and on pump gas, but it can get there I'm sure. It will be interesting to see where my "S" car ends up when finished. Reaching minimum weight won't be a problem. I'm also pretty confident the SRT's aren't showing their full hand. If the AEM is a legal setup in the car, or the use of SCT, those cars should be good for mid 12's, IMO.

That car is carrying 165 hp not the stock 150. If someone gets serious with an SRT4 It will (has) run high 11's. The 2.5 motor is all over at about 5300. The SRT 4 can make power past 8000 it has 4 valves per hole. The stock rules allow a cam of .430 lift The cam I'm running now has .433 (modified motor)You put a cam an a good ecu in one. It would fly.

Rob,
You forgot my Daytona ![]() I would look at a PT turbo with a plastic intake not the aluminum one with an auto trans. |
