I do think this was all explained in the beginning of 2009 before the season started ? I agree with Chip and others that it gave others who couldn't afford to attend 6-8 races a chance to win... Do you think NHRA
and Nascar shootout's had anything to do with IHRA using it... Yes, and it has made things very interesting .... I think it will get even better this year if Scotty Wins.... Why should you have to travel thousands of miles if you don't have too... I do think they should look at a min. of 2/3 races for the year going forward........... Time will tell, but those are the RULES ... Merry Xmas & Happy New Year to all....

![]() Ok....if you don't attend four divisionals'; you loose your points at the end of the year, but you can theoretically race two races and be a national champion....Sorry, doesn't work for me ![]()

That was announced and continued to be promoted since about a year ago! It has its plusses & minuses. But I believe the main idea was to keep more people showing up through the end of the season by providing an opportunity for a shot at the World Championship for everyone through the end of the season without having to travel as much. With the bad economy, it's difficult to say how much it help or hurt car counts. But it was enough to IHRA Sportsman racing going.
http://ihra.com/article/4143.html You need to keep up with the IHRA news. NHRA use to do something similar many years ago with their World Finals being an "invitational" for the championship. It may have been like that in 1980 when I went to NHRA's FIRST ET Bracket World Championship race at the World Finals in Ontario, CA! Both bracket programs are similar now also. Danny are you saying that it's possible that Scotty Richardson might end up being the 2009 IHRA World Champion and he only raced at one IHRA event the whole season ???
