There's not as many as there used to be as people keep moving up to faster cars, but there's still a fair number. The starter can wait (within reason) to arm the AutoStart system, which eliminates any issues of people getting quick-treed (Deep) or timed out (Shallow). It's pretty standard at big money Footbrake races in general, and we haven't had any issues. NHRA Div. 1 Pro ET rules handle it differently, by simply running all pairs completely on Autostart, but with 1 second added to the 'Stage to Start' time, putting the impetus on the driver to get in on time.

(Before anyone asks, there is no deep staging at the Class Nationals, keeping with both NHRA & IHRA S/SS rules)
