Thanks Mark.

iraceitall, why would you spend the $ on a combo that is not a good choice, I am just playing the devil's advocate here

It's a combo I have, what I have accumulated has been dirt-cheap (trying my hand at a Dime Rocket) and the NHRA HP is wrong (working on that). I'm going to start with the six, and maybe move to a 302 later. I'm following some good advice from Billy Nees, and honestly, I'm a glutton and like the challenge. I have always liked messing with sixes, and oddballs at that. Shoot, I have had this car in and out of my life for the last two years while other projects have come and passed, so I take it as a sign lol...

If it sucks, then lesson learned. I'll just try something different, like the 302.

Mark, being the other Vet whose advice I weigh heavily, I understand the design flaws of the 200 here, but is there something else I am missing? Would it be better to you if the HP was corrected to 115 and not 140?

Plus, after searching and researching and probably asking enough silly noob questions to drive a veteran nuts, I figured the best thing was to just finally pick a combo and dive in! Gotta learn what this is all about somehow, right?

I'm not afraid to lose, or to fail, I'm afraid to not try and regret it later.

Certainly, but then you'd be down the same rating as the Monza I have for sale with the same size engine and a TWO bbl. carb.

If I were you I would just go bracket race that combo and have fun with it. Do all the suspension mods etc and then drop the 302 in it. Spending the money on a header that may or may not work well is just a waste of money.

You're facing the same issues I am. I have a car/engine combo I want to run (67 El Camino/230), but the advice here is that it's not competitive. Do I build what I have and want to build, or do I buy a car that has a better chance of winning?

You can win with any car, just talk to Lane Weber or a host of other guys here like Mark Y. The problem is you may spend more money than necessary jsu to get this combo run the number

Just make sure this combo has the potential to at least run the index if you are going class racing. Other wise it's just a waste of time and money.
