Well, after waiting for nearly 2 months, cant get SMith Machine(Schubeck style) lifters for my Pontiac... I guess they are having problems getting them done, by whoever is doing them. So , i guess im gonna go with a regular steel lifter...ANy suggestions? For E or F/SA 400/330HP Pontiac....

Trend Tool Steel. They do have a limited travel model that passes NHRA tech for a hydraulic lifter in Stock.
I suggest at least a P55 lobe lock cast iron core, and nitriding.

Brent, I was told with a new cam, You break in cam with smith or schubeck lifter, then change to tool steel lifter, I think you would be ok on used cam, but i don't build my motors. Tom

To my knowledge Trend does not make a Pontiac lifter. Pontiac lifters are the same diameter as a Chevy but Pontiac ones are taller. Putting a Chevy lifter in a Pontiac can cause the oil gallery to become exposed at the top of the lifter when the lifter is on the base circle and or the lifter oil groove to become exposed on the bottom side. I can’t remember which it is, it’s been a few years since I decided to see if Chevy ones would fit. I would just use the Sherman lifters. If you really want to use ceramics I have a used set. I quit using ceramics years ago.

Hey Bill, in your opinion, is there much ET between the 2? Im planning on being in the 6500 rpm range...What about spring pressures? I might be interested in the used Ceramics...let me know what you need for them, and if they need resurfaced.... Thanks, BRent

Guys, if something is not in a catalog, pick up the phone and ask. It's not that difficult! PPP just made me a set of AMC TS lifters and there were none in the catalog. I just sent them a lifter I wanted copied and in less than 4 weeks had a set. Didn't cost extra either. Now it's available for everybody.
If I sat around looking at catalogs for availability while building an AMC, I'd never get it done.

Used cam or not with a new lifter using a good BR fluid for a few passes will not hurt one bit and will make make you feel a little more at ease as well. Gibbs makes two different BR oils and works fine IMO.
