Awesome news Jeff. Any idea how much your 5.9 engine weighs vs the Hemi?

I would think they are close in weight. They both have alm heads & intake. I'm not sure if the hemi block is a little heavier.

I guess Mopar got shipping weight for the Hemis at 3,100 while the 5.9 is 3,200 so there wouldn't be an overlap in classes between the 5.7 and 5.9?

Myron, the original packages ran AA,A & B with the 6.1, D,E,F with the 5.7, and G,H,I with the 5.9. I really don't think I can get below I/SA because I'm a fatso. But I can throw my 160 lb son Frank or 180 lb Joey (both drove T/STK) and move up a class or so. The 6.1` is now in AA & A only.

Thumbs up Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners

I thought that was what I originally heard for the spread in classes. Good plan to spread them out into as many as possible.

I'm 190 wet! Heck, I barely have enough vacation time to run IHRA. But looking forward to the results whatever class it's in.

Smile Re: Challenger Drag Pak Owners

The last 09's are near completion. Will be 100, and then the 10's come. I have # 80 waiting, 81 is waiting on the first 5.9, then 98 and 99, and I think Doug Duell got # 100. #95 is for a friend from N.O. and it will also go to B & B. It's been a long period, but Mopar got it done and will do some more. All we need now is a 392 and a blower. Don't be surprised. I withdrew from Gainesville, just out of time. Will take the DP powered Duster and try that again in SS. I plan on running in the CIC race at No Problem Sportsnationals with the Challenger. More as it unfolds.

I have a question Jeff. Last week I attended the USA Banquet and 4 of the Minnesota's DP owners where there and we were all questioning ourselves about what makes an 09 DP different than an 10 DP as far as production dates. We were thinking that if a car was produced on or after Jan 1, 2010, shouldn't it be considered a 2010 model? Or maybe because a DP is not considered a car, but in reality a Dodge part number, would that make any difference as far as an 09 vs 10? Can you shed any light on this matter? We were all confused. lol

Since there is no VIN number, the year model was just a designation of the original cars that were conceived in 08. The 09 is in the class guide and specs and that fulfils the agreement for 100 cars with the three available engines. The 2010 is 6.1 only. I assume the 5.7 and 5.9 motors were a loser especially the 5.9 as only 3 were ordered and the first ain't done yet. To spend the money to make the 5.9, mounts etc was probably a big loser, therefore the 6.1 only for 2010 I don't think there is any difference in the cars or the engines and the class will be the same. The special tag on the shock tower is probably all there is different. I really didn't ask when I spoke to them about the 2010. I will ask if there is any purpose in the 2010 (maybe later the 392 which is coming factory in 2011 I think). I believe MP bought back a few rear cradles so more cars could be made, but I think they got a boat trailer axle under them now to go with the boat trailer tires. Just a little trivia there. And I gotta tell you my car will be the prettiest of the bunch. But then I'm partial.
