Default 30X9 better on a 8 or 10 inch rim

Would be for a 96 Firebird stocker. Not sure on radial or bias yet but I would say at some point I will have both so opinions on both ways would be great.
Thanks
Rob

I asked a former D/S record holder and he said he didn't see any dfference. Most people seem to run 10" but if clearance is tight, remember that the section width will be about .3" per side narrower with the 8" wheel (or .6 to .8" overall width difference per tire).

I'm splitting the difference, just ordered a pair of 9" wide Bogarts yesterday.

Does that mean you are a compromiser? Somehow that does not compute . . .

OK...I really think the tread and rim should be in zen with one another, equally disbursing the load. I think most choose 8" or 10" because a 9" is not commonly available.

I never actually compared the two sizes, but I've always been under the impression that with a wider rim, you can run more air pressure, which stabilizes the sidewalls more, while still achieving a full-width footprint. I've always used 10" rims with my 9" Hoosier slicks.

It depends on the tire company. In the past I have run just about every brand of tire. Most worked better on 10inch wheels. The M&H and Toyo's liked 8 inch. This is on a stick car with bias tires.

Hoosier advised me to run 10" rims with their 9x30's.

With the offset I wanted and I wanted a welded pair of Bogart R/T's (hate all those little nuts and bolts!), I'm ending up with a 9 1/4" rim. How's that for being on the gnats ***?

Rod...any progress? Need you to get moving. I want to race!
