Fuel Line Question
I've got my fuel cell for my Duster project, it has a #10 fitting at the rear for the
line to the electric fuel pump/filter setup. I want to run a 1/2" line to the front of the car to feed the Holley carb/regulator. Should it be metal or Aluminum or S/S braided line?? Is Summit as good a place as any to purchase fittings and lines? If someplace local is better, I'm in Southern California near Disneyland. As always I'm open to opinions and comments. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Fuel Line Question
I'm tight, so I used the -8 braid to the filter mount, then the soft aluminum (properly routed, secured, flared for AN with sleeves and nuts, and with bulkhead connector tabs welded to the frame at each end) and another short length of -8 to the pump inlet (block mount), -6 from there to the carb.
Got away for less than $150 on the job iirc. Steel braid is a replacement item a few years down the road, pick your poison. I'd say the aluminum line is the lightest. You can use approved woven pushlock all the way also. |
Re: Fuel Line Question
Now about that block mounted stock fuel pump!

I still have that original if you need it.....:D:D:D I think I voided my factory warranty......;) |
Re: Fuel Line Question
Another route you can take is # 10 braided to the pump, then # 8 to the regulator. Earls makes a synthetic braided line that will not dry out like like standard braided. Braided is more costly but is easier to route. Summit does have a good selection of fittings and hoses. Good luck.

Re: Fuel Line Question
My car has the "twist-loc" hose on it from the fuel pump forward........not to high to by & easy to work with! (it looks & acts like rubber hose) ;)

Re: Fuel Line Question
You could replace that outlet fitting with a -8 also.....
