Rear Sway Bars

Evan Smith wrote a really nice article in National Dragster about sway bars, but are there other ways to make a car do the same thing. Weight preload, shock settings, shortening the passenger side upper bar on a 4 link, spring rates. Or, are each of these items doing something different than the sway bar accomplishes. One time, my Super Bee was picking up the left rear quarter a considerable amount, but the right rear was doing nothing. I had all of the clamps off the right, but no lift. Finally, I started clamping the left, just to calm it down. It did, but it also started lifting the right. I had no idea that the torque would transfer to the other side of the car. Last question in all of this: Is a sway bar even an allowable addition to a Stock Eliminator car?

I have seen them on cars that never came with them.

I even saw at Indy a few year ago an A Body Mopar
with the front sway bar installed on the rear axle!
I discussed it with the gentleman
and he said the rule did not say where sway bar could be placed

Great point but it also did not say he could move to rear! That’s what the Tech guys answer would be.

Brakes & Suspension:3
Suspension, Rear
"Sway bar(s) optional"

I seem to remember that a couple of years ago the Tech Dept. came out with some kind of a ruling that a "sway bar" or an "anti-roll bar" from the aftermarket couldn't be "welded in" but had to be "bolted in" a Stocker.

I always interpreted it as you can remove factory bar

I think this came about because someone put an aftermarket type "anti-rollbar" in a 3rd gen F-body (welded in) and posted pics of it in an article.

S&W made a roll bar kit for 3rd gen Camaro a lot like what is used in 4 link suspension installed above the axle housing with torque tube mounted to the body with adjustable links which drop down to the axle housing.
