In the rule book the it states that OEM hardware can be used too
the hold down in the stock ;location,,, the hold down seem weak ! For the battery hold down is a metal part that catches the bottom of the battery and bolts the tray I have bolted the tray to the core support with 3/8 bolts in the stock location replacing the little bolts that held the tray to the core support will that pass tech looks like it can from GMhttp://autoparts.looknooks.com/media...66014040_1.jpg |

Re: OEM Battery location and hold down
It is not that hard to make a strap that goes across the top of the battery and use 3/8" fasteners to hold it down . Then it will pass tech without question .

Re: OEM Battery location and hold down
and the OEM 1968 "little bolts" still fasten the tray to the core support. You're worried about nothing. Oh and your new 3/8" bolts are chinese.;)

Re: OEM Battery location and hold down
I'm sure NHRA wants the strap across the top of the battery to keep it secure in the event of a roll-over, preventing a short or fire.

Re: OEM Battery location and hold down
You would be incorrect when OEM located batteries are mounted with ALL OEM hold down hardware.
