Wanted: Cap for Holley Billet Distributor
 

I have a Holley Billet distributor and I need a distributor cap. The distributor cap part number is 899-101. Holley has discontinued their line of ignition products. Checked at Jegs, Summit Racing, and several other places found via a Google search, but all have exhausted their supply of these caps.

The distributor rotor is the same as a 57-80s Chevrolet. The cap is listed as 4 inch diameter short style. It has 2 external hold down screws that are offset slightly so the cap will only go on one way.

Does anyone know of a commonly available cap that will fit this distributor?

Not sure it was holley but one of the after market sbc distributors used a cap for a 345 international.

Did you try the Holley tech line @ 270-781-9741 for that 899-101? I don't know if that
phone # is still good. I got the number from an old post on another site. The guy had
same problem nearly 10 years ago....and was told to call that number for parts.

Maybe you saw that and tried them already...

Looked similar to 345 IH,
I would go to old school parts place,where parts guys have been around and can probaly identify by seeing,I 'm sure it probably is a cap that existed and holley used it.

If it uses non-HEI terminals, I believe the one you need is Echlin (NAPA) pn #ECH FA9800. -Al

P.S. Holley was the O.E. mfg. for many I.H. eight cylinder distributor applications.

Thanks for the suggestions to all who replied.

We've gone to several local parts houses and gone through the parts books with some of their "seasoned" personnel and looked at quite a few distributor caps. Some are very close, but all were either a bit too tall or the diameter was off by 1/8 of an inch or more. A tech rep from Accel tried to cross reference the Holley part number with no luck.

Attached are a few pictures of the cap with a broken terminal. The cap measures 3 7/8 inches outside diameter at the bottom of the cap, 3 9/16 inches inside diameter at the inside mounting surface, and about 3 inches tall.

Still looking and willing the chase any lead anyone can offer.

i have the same dist and will need a cap soon, if memory serves me correct its the same as a AMC 8 cyl screw down cap with hei terminals. For some reason im thinkin early 80's jeeps with the 8 cylinders but i cant remember for sure. Theyve been discontinued by Holley years ago, i had one new cap but lost it.
