LS1 Accumulator
i plan on adding an accumulator to my LS1 this winter. i have no experience with the LS engines. Where is the best place to add the accumulator into the system? is there an oil port up front of the block?
Thanks Ian |
Re: LS1 Accumulator
The LS pulls the oil to the pump in the front and sends it down the block to the oil filter, then up the back of the block to the lifters and then the mains. At the top of the block in the back there is an oil port. You will need a metric size fitting. Autometer has them. If I remember right it is 16 x1.5 thread.

Re: LS1 Accumulator
wow, thanks. kind of makes it seem a bit silly to add a remote oil filter to the front of the engine plate! The fitting in the top of the block, at the rear has already been converted to a -4 jic fitting for oil gauge reading. i will add a T here!
thank you for your help Ian |
Re: LS1 Accumulator
I've always seen the port on the driver side front used.

Re: LS1 Accumulator
If you are using the stock or remote filter off the pan. I would use the front galley in this picture.
http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...lockoiling.jpg The Trailblazer SS SUV have a honorable oil pan and need an accumulator to keep from sucking air.I came up with a kit to help a few friends and that is where they have run theirs. Front is the Pre filter and the rear (hard to get to) is post filter. Hope this helps. :) |
