Fuel Spigot for Fuel Check
My brother and I are upgrading our whole fuel system on our race car.
We bought an Aeromotive A 1000 pump, A 1000 regulator, and a 100 micron fuel filter. We want to use one of the ports on the regulator to put the spigot for fuel check at the track. The problem is Aeromotive uses all Army/Navy (AN) fittings to plumb their system. Our old pump and regulator had all NPT fittings. The regulator ports are AN fittings with a straight cut o-ring boss. I can't seem to find the right combination of AN fittings to adapt from the regulator to the fuel spigot that we currently have which is a male 1/4 NPT. Any help plumbing this combination would be welcomed. Also, we are open to an alternative way of adding a fuel spigot that would be easy to get at. |
Re: Fuel Spigot for Fuel Check
I have used a "T" and run the spigot in combination from the 1/8" NPT gauge port.

Re: Fuel Spigot for Fuel Check
I got a push button style fuel check valve from Jegs I think. It has an AN type fitting. Real easy to install and use. I tried a ball valve that worked but one time I bumped the lever on the ball valve and did not notice. Leaked fuel on the starting line and lost the round not to mention the fire hazard. I like the spring loaded button style that I have now.

Re: Fuel Spigot for Fuel Check
you will need a "flare seal" ORB fitting(EARLS/XRP/AEROQUIP SELLS EM) with a -10 size on the one end or whatever size the regulator is and a NPT either male or female on the other end--- otherwise just get a AN ORB plug and drill & tap it for the proper size NPT thread

Not sure which A1000 you have, but if there's an 1/8"NPT gauge port on it, you can use the Aeromotive 15631 sample valve. I bought one and used it with my Magnafuel regulator...nice piece, plus it has another port for the gauge.

Re: Fuel Spigot for Fuel Check
I ordered one from Jerry Bickel. There were several to choose from, they offer NPT as well as AN style. The price was on the level with the rest. MB

Re: Fuel Spigot for Fuel Check
I would buy a -6 straight thread plug from Jegs with a o-ring . Then drill and tap the plug for a 1/4 pipe thread. That is what I did. I think the price was $ 3.99 I hope this helps. Kenney Kelley
