Externally balanced
Are you allowed to have your motor externally balanced in stock eliminator?

Re: Externally balanced
Yes, you can even get an external balance SFI harmonic balancer should you need it for a 10 second car....but of course internally balancing the motor will simplify things down the road.

Re: Externally balanced
As mentioned, it is allowed. But aside from the advantage of easier to find neutral/internally balanced dampers flexplates and converters, I was always told that internally balanced assemblies are easier on the crank and bearings. It's probably more relevant to higher rpm combos, but something to consider nonetheless.

Re: Externally balanced
You can also take a externally balanced motor (such as a 360 SB) and have
it internally balanced (does use more heavy metal). But it can be done. |
