Mopar stick racers with SS springs weight transfer problem
Car: old 90's stocker reborn 70/1 challenger 383 with jerico, dana 60 5.13 with what are believed to be launcher springs in the rear clamped 3 times in the front both sides, none in the rear no pinion snubber.
Car isn't lifting the front end, the rear springs separate rear end goes up and car goes forward. On the upside car even with no 60 foot 1.65-7 can still go under the index. It looks like a street car leaving. Anyone running a pinion snubber with the leaf spring mopars? Shall pose another thread asking about cal-tracks for stick mopars. Thanks Eric |

What is the launch RPM, first gear ratio, and what kind of clutch? Also, are the tires hooking?

Re: Mopar stick racers with SS springs weight transfer probl
I used to run the launcher springs on the camaro up until 4 years ago, what we did is run 4 clamps on each side ,one on the left rear rancho shocks set on 8 to keep down the seperation. You need 6-7 deg. pinion angle to get them to work, if there old they might not work anymore. Went to the caltrac setup sits lower not as much seperation the 60ft. is about the same. They never recommended a pinion snubber My car is an auto.BB. gsa612

Thanks for all the suggestions: I did call Alex and order the Calverts shocks front and rear. The prior owner also thought that the new technology would work a lot better. Will try shocks first and move to the calvert bars and springs as needed. I got the car off the rollback this morning and measured how it sat in the front from center of front wheel to wheel quarter panel edge then jacked up car till the front wheels came off the ground I got 5-5.5 inches of travel. I didn't check the pinion angle yet , cookout was calling. Looking forward to playing with the classy challenger again soon. Parts will go on after E-town. E-town is next for the dakota and the dragpak with Mike behind the wheel. Thank You to all that memorial day is observed for......including my late grandfather Clarence who served 3 plus years in the Phillipines in WW2, in whos memory the dragpak was built......and all the men and women who have fallen in defense of our great country..... Re: Mopar stick racers with SS springs weight transfer probl
Eric,
It’s fairly easy on those cars to put the front end up in the air remove the torsion bar adjusting bolt and the nut that goes through the arm and check to see if the front suspension moves freely. What diameter torsion bars are in the car? |
