will an engine actually pull air through a plywood carb spacer??...

plywood spacers have been in use for decades.

The spacers are made of Baltic Birch plywood. The plywood has no voids many plys(its dense) and doesn't warp. It has a heat transfer less that phenolic resin. You can soak it in epoxy resin to make it super hard.

a CNC router holds down material with vacuum sucked through a sheet of 3/4 inch MDF...vacuum pump is 7hp...
