5.7 Hemi
What bellhousing bolt pattern does the 5.7 Hemi use?

Re: 5.7 Hemi
The new Hemi has the small block engine bolt pattern but the starter is on the pass side. I just got a Quicktime bellhousing but opted for a driver side starter so I might be able to use 340-360 headers with some mods. It fits fine.

727 or 904. I have been using a gutted 904 for mockup on my SSGT car but I'm going with a Gforce. |
Re: 5.7 Hemi
Yep X Tech,
That is the same thing I've been told about my V-6 Super Stocker. Correct side for the starter. In SS/?X classes you can put the starter anywhere. In SS/DS (modified stock) I've been told the starter has to be locaterd in the origional location. I wouldn't be too quick to move it in Stock or SuperStock. Better be careful that could be a way to leave a race early. |
Re: 5.7 Hemi
Guess I Better check with NHRA. Maybe on a GT car I can claim I kept the starter on the original side, or not?

Re: 5.7 Hemi
Did a little checking in my 2009 Drag Pak book and the cars came with a viper trans for the stick and a 904 case for the auto. Since the starter bolts to the trans with a 904, I think the correct side will be the drivers side. The viper is a little tougher to figure out. The photo I have shows the starter to be on the same side as the clutch fork but either the photo is reversed or the fork is on the passanger side. Anyone with a drag pak care to say whichside the starter is on?
