rod/piston assembly weight
Where do I find the minimum weight for a rod/piston assembly for my combo? Does the weight include rings and bearings?

I think it is in the accepted replacement parts list in the competition section. It includes rings, but not bearings, since you can easily remove the two bearing shells from most connecting rods, and also the bearings would have different weights depending on how far the rod journal has been ground undersize.

It may not be clearly stated, but I think you will find that rod bolt weight is considered part of the rod weight. All that is important is the correct parts/part numbers and the correct assy. total weight.

Adger is correct, all rod fasteners are included, the total weight of the rod includes the fasteners, they put the rod nuts back on, or the bolts back in, before they weigh it. They only leave the bearing out, and for the reasons I gave.

Another point that is clear as mud is the pin locks. You will find that "If" a piston is actually run press fit on the rod no locks are figured in the piston weight. If it is floated and pin locks are used they are considered part of the piston weight and are included in the total assy weight. Don't forget about them. |
