Re: which throttle stop?
We run the Dedenbear TS6 which I (and many others) think is by far the most consistent and reliable one in the business. But there are limitations to it, and if you have a huge HP motor some people are finding you can't shut it down enough.
We, for example, with 900HP can't get the TS6 to go below 4000 RPM no matter what we do. That number works for us, but for others with bigger HP, they have to be on the stop for an hour and a half at 4K and they'd prefer something lower. So they end up using in a linkage stop and going down to, say 3600. Whichever you choose, I strongly recommend that you choose an air stop. The ability to carefully control the speed of on, and more importantly off, the stop is crucial. You can come off the stop with less trauma with an air stop. Hope this helps, Chris |
Re: which throttle stop?
I have used the dedenbear disc stop when they came out , when new it was deadly. after a while it started to drift , we sent it back to refresh and could not get it dead on. now we use the #1 stop and we like it.

Re: which throttle stop?
Well I run a Ron's fuel injection and censequently I have to shut the barrel valve to keep from flooding th motor with fuel so I use an in line throttle stop.|
if you choose to use an inline throttle stop you need be be sure that the pedal stop is a solid one or it will drive ya nuts! |
Re: which throttle stop?
Biondo inline air stop, works good for me.

Re: which throttle stop?
It was 1 Stop for me. The plus for 1 Stop is Gary. He will spend as much time with you as necessary to answer all your questions. Also use air. You can not adj the opening & closing with elec.

Re: which throttle stop?
I use a Biondo inline air stop primarily because of a height issue with the bottom of the hood scoop. The #1 Stop that I used on my last car would not fit and still allow me to use a K&N air filter. The only thing that you have to be certain about is that the throttle linkage has a positive stop. The thing that I really like about the inline unit is that when the throttle re-opens it actuates the accelerator pumps, that insures that I don't have a temporary lean bog. I run the downpower rather low, normally around 4000 or less having the use of the accelerator pump helps. The only change I made to the Biondo was to open the air valve and use individual bleeds (On and off) to the throttle stop.

Re: which throttle stop?
TS6 here. I am one of those who cannot get the RPM down as much as I would like. I have 1050HP and am on the stop for 4.7-4.9 to run S/ST. I am only able to get it s=down to 4000ish but it seems to work for me. Unfortunately the motor had an issue with the cam and is down righ tnow waiting for a cam core blank.

Re: which throttle stop?
We use both a #1 stop on one car and a Dedenbear TS5 on the other car. Both are air stops and both work well. No problem at all getting the RPM's down. I have my car set at about 3700 right now and could go lower.

Number 1 Stop. End of story.
