Another Line Lock Question

What would be the cause of a line lock not holding the car properly? When I set it, you can feel the solenoid click and engage the front brakes but, when you do a burn out it doesn't hold the car in place like it should. The line lock solenoid is a Biondo w/ a Hurst Switch. I was told to check for air in the lines which I will do. If it isn't air in the lines what other things should I check?

Larry:

Do you mean direction of flow? Also, is it common that you have to pump the brakes a couple of time before you set the switch?? Someone else suggested the same thing.

yes they are directional, i know from experience i just had the exact problem with my new stocker and it was the dork that built the car LOL turned it around and the brakes work perfect

Those things are rebuildable. Unscrew the brass part from the coil portion. Pull the piston out. There is a little seal that covers the orifice in the middle. Check the condition of the seal ,and that it's not pushed back too far.
Call Sal and see if he'll sell you a kit.

Re: Another Line Lock Question

Thats where a brake pressure guage comes in handy. Hold the button and pump the brakes to build pressure. Same pressure every time. Also make sure your not sliding your front tires.

Re: Another Line Lock Question

Does the line lock solenoid allow pressure to pass through it in one direction? Cause the advise being given here is to " hold the button and pump the brakes"... All these years I've been putting the car in netrual, pumping the pedal then holding the pedal hard, then pressing the button.. My line locks have always held the car without any problems. I don't think after all these years I would change my routine, but was just wondering..
