Tire Pressure

While my chassis is not legal for Stock Eliminator I am building it somewhat by S/E design and I'm having an initial traction problem. I'm being told to run no more tire pressure than 15 PSI in the Radial Slick and I'm wondering what you folks run for those of you that run this type of tire.

I am running a 30x9 MT ET Drag Radial mounted on a 10" wheel with 19 PSI

Caltrac's with 1/4 turn preload w/ drivers weight
Rancho 9000 shocks set on #4
Calvert split mono leaf springs
Anti roll bar (zero preload)
AFCO low friction ball joints & bushings
Moroso Trick Springs
Lakewood 90/10 shocks (8" of travel)

Thanks in advance for your help

Phil

What are you running for a driveline?

Re: Tire Pressure

In my wife's stocker with the 305 we run 22-25 psi with the 9x30 radial with no traction issues. How much horsepower do you figure you have? In my Nova with the Cal tracs with the split leaf I changed from the Ranchos to a good double adjustable shock. I don't run a radial slick as I run stick in the car. They were not cheap but it made a big difference on traction.

In my B/SA car, 70 Nova. 402/375 I run 24 lbs in the Hoosier radial. If you run less air you may spin tire due to making it oblong. Have a friend watch your car launch for feedback. If your suspension is right, no binding, no reason you can not run at least 20lbs. Check front end travel, rear seperation, converter flash, PM if you have any other questions.

Good luck

Thank you very much for your replies

By the way I have 550 hp

I know my converter is tight and a little smaller than what I think I need. it is a 8" 4500 ATI converter, my cam specs are 636/595 & 256/266
