Front tires
What advantages are 28" front tire vs a 26" besides longer rollout and reduced rpm? Ride height and fender clearance are two problems with 28" that I'd like to get away from.

Re: Front tires
Goodyear has a 27" available. That is what I have on my car right now.

Re: Front tires
Gary, most guys running the short 24" or 26" tires are using them to help reaction time. The shorter tires also will hurt 60ft times somewhat.
I run the 26" Hoosiers and i need all the help on reaction time i can get and sometimes it wouldn't matter what rollout tire i have! |
Re: Front tires
Depending on your frame and suspension, you may be able to get more front end rise with taller front tires.
I don't know what you race, but consider my Nova (or any 68-72 Nova or 67-69 Camaro): the bumpstop is between the subframe and the bottom of the upper control arm. So if I can get the upper control arm higher up, I'll have more front end rise before it yanks the tires. One way to do that is just to lower the front end, but to keep the same distance between my frame and the ground, I'd have to put taller tires on it. Right now I can barely get my jack under the crossmember, so I plan on changing springs and trying some taller tires. |
