Welding tips and bracing of axle tubes for factory 12 bolt h

Hey Guys,

I am looking for welding tips and bracing of axle tubes for factory 12 bolt housing - where tubes join the pumpkin and as fully assembled or Probably has to be completely disassembled?

Thanks, Craig

Find a good welder and have the tubes welded to the center section all the way around. Bracing can be accomplished with a LPW cover with the bracing option.

What successes or limits have others had with a Tubes Welded Ladder bar 12 bolt = limits of factory Tubes strength?

Thanks, Craig

Unless you're not putting a lot of power through this 12 bolt, I wouldn't use a stock housing. This is from my own personal experience. The axle tubes won't handle lots of power.

Thank you - I will probably get the welding of the tubes and the LWP cover with the brace.

Keep an eye on pinion angel if it changes the tubes are twisting.

Tubes that are welded to the center section shouldn't twist BUT the stock tubes will tear either at the weld or at the spring mounting point.

You can probably get good money for the factory 12-Bolt case. Maybe enough to buy a new aftermarket one that won't have the issues that the stock one will.

Go aftermarket, thicker casting and tubes, weld them all the way around and brace it like I did and you'll never worry about it again.

Don't think ladder bars will go on there real easy...;-)

I use Nickle Cast 55 stick rods with the flux removed to tig weld the axle tube to the case.
I always pre heat to draw any oil residue out ,clean with acetone then reheat to 250*before welding

Replaced the factory tubes with DOM (Drawn over Mandrel) tubing. Had a local chassis builder press in the new tubes and weld them to the center section. Once installed he then welded the "Big" Ford housing ends to the tubes.
