Bob, thanks for the contact. How do these lifters compare to shubecks in a traditional hyd. flat tappet? Can you run the same seat pressure? Can you use the same set from cam to cam? Thanks for the info.

You can't run the super high rates and you can't change them from cam to cam. But they are cheaper.

Made 4 really good passes with the mustang 5.0 and after the fourth pass I heard a noise going through the finish line, sounded like a quick rev limiter bounce (but I had no rev limiter set that low) going through at 6500. Was making a bad noise driving up return road, I pulled the valve covers and noticed 5 roller rocker adjustment nuts had backed off almost completely. Tightened them back down but the car didn't run anything close to the previous 4 runs. Did I lose a lifter? Compression test passes and didn't see anything wrong with springs or pushrods when I pulled them out. Rockers weren't damaged, just loose.

Bobby,

I had something similar happen at the last race last year. I run tool steel lifters so no puck issues. But I thought I lost a cam lobe. I verified lobe lift and all was fine. What I did find was my OEM replacement distributor reluctor wheel had loosened up on the roll pin that secures it to the shaft. It had slop in it and was playing heck with the timing. Crappy Chinese material on the reluctor casting.

If adjusters were found loose, there may be something else to be looking at. Just some thoughts. Good luck

Sean

Bobby,

As Sean says check the cam lobes really close, to make sure there's no wear ?? Also, the lifter bottoms for cupping with a straight edge ... I had the same think happen last year, it was a pushrod had gone thru a stock rocker at the 1,000' mark ....Took the top apart to be sure there wasn't any damage inside also drain Oil & filter and check ....May sure you check the spring pressure, to be sure it didn't float & hit something ? Now's the time to be safe & check everything before it gets real expensive .... I was lucky, it was only the rocker arm & harden pushrod's did their job....Checked everything & replaced the rocker arm & went fast again .... Good Luck ...
