I don't have any old "Nitro Joes" lying around (they always wind up disappearing) but I think that within the past year or 2 someone was running a 78 Malibu in Q/SA With the 2V 305 in Div. 4 and I believe that it ran quite well.

No question about it. If I were going to build a 2V car , It would be a 78 Camaro or Firebird 305.
Look at the shape and frontal area of those cars and then compare them to anything else that has already run well with that combo.
Those cars are still all over the place,easy to build, and can be changed over to several different higher HP combos later on.
They run R,T and U with the 305.

Billy that would have been James Hubbs. He ran 1.030 under last year @ Houston Div. 13.070 is a pretty good #.( Billy I have all the Joe's back to 2003 ;)
