To answer your original question: I would not try to run it that close. Closest I have ever run my SS LT1 is .036" intake (I prefer .040") and .065" ex, measured with checking springs, using a dial indicator, not clay.

ghost, Did you check valve clearance with valve springs that you are going race with? you need a solid roller lifter the same height as your hydraulic roller to check cam lift & valve clearance, you will have more valve clearance with heavy springs. Tom

Doubt race springs will get him enough clearance.

after checking carefully with RACE spring . i have .038int and .065exh at 101.5 timing. Is tight but O.K. for my application
