Re: Haven't seen this in a while---12 VOLT BATTERIES
I didn't even have a generator so I bought two 12v Honda Civic batteries. They are available everywhere and weigh about 22#'s each & are $50-$70 each.
Both fully charged at home. Battery one would easily take care of tech, qualifying and 2-3 rounds of eliminations. If I was still in the program, switch to the second battery which was fully charged. That would take care of the rest of the day. If I was worried, I would charge the first battery on a buddies generator. With terminals attached to each battery, swap takes about two minutes. If that. When racing out of town I'd charge the batteries at the hotel. Yes, in the room. This is a SS car with no alternator. I finally bought a Honda suitcase generator and one battery was good for the entire day. I am changing to 16V. |

Don't mean to change this thread to a political issue, however, I feel that purchasing American Made Products should be at the top of everyone's list!!! Optima batteries are made in Mexico, and apparently as of late, not very well - http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/...mexico-215667/
Odyssey Batteries are a good choice - small and substantial power with good reliability. I have a friend with a 32 Roadster, 8-71 blown 468 Big Block Chevy - cranks over easily with Odyssey PC680 - 13 lbs. and the size of a motorcycle battery. Check them out at http://www.odysseybattery.com/ Google Odyssey battery reviews for additional info! |

I think Leon meant to say that our USA C Level managers need to start hiring American citizens and not internationally.

Re: Haven't seen this in a while---12 VOLT BATTERIES
I think there was a question regarding 12 volt versus using a 16 volt and which was better. Has there been a current check of 12 volt versus 16 for performance? It was my impression that unless you use an alternator the voltage output of a 12 volt was hurting performance if you ran a waterpump, fan, ignition all on one or two 12 volt batteries. The story was a 16 volt battery run down is more actual amperage than a 12 volt fully charged.
#2 If you are WAY over weight then a small battery may be good but.... nothing like two 40 lb batteries in the trunk for ballast AND voltage . |
