I would guess around 440 STP, but how it carries HP past peak would be very important to me.

Ok

So we know a 294 CUIN 283 4 jet can make 373 STP HP. 1.27 HP per inch.

Now looking at the 300 HP 327 combination @ 340 CUIN. Bigger bore, more compression, 1.940 intake valve, more cross section in the intake port.
It makes sense to me this engine should be able to make 1.27 HP per inch if not more. 1.27 X 340 = 432 HP. NHRA 365 HP 327 makes 470 HP.

Sounds good..if you compare it to the best 283 that ever was.
327 /365 has too much difference to base a comparison off of .

I don't know how far under you want to go , Jim, but I'm standing by my observation, using my formula that has been pretty accurate over the years.

Jim, the trick is getting a cam into those things and max compression. My one and only attempt didn't do so well.
Anyway , the AFB deal should fall between the 4 GC and the Q-jet. We know that much .
Other than that, I'd have to look at one closely, with the newer rules, and I just haven't.
As mentioned , Jim Lewis would know the deal on them. I don't bother people at work, that do this stuff for a living, though. I haven't seen the ol' boy at the races in a while.
