Default R.I.P. Richard Godley

Got word yesterday that Richard passed away.Hateful cancer took away another great person from us. He built transmissions for many and helped me and many others for years. His work helped win championships in many categories throughout all the racing organizations. Will be missed by all. Prayers to the family. Craig

I'm shocked. Richard won the Gators in 1984 and tried to repeat in '85... except I beat him in the final that year. He would always kiddingly say how I "stole" the Wally from him. I remember wearing the championship jacket one time to an event and he wanted to know if that was "his jacket." He was a great guy, always giving back. I enjoyed catching up with him when our paths crossed, which wasn't often enough. Godspeed.

One of the last times we spoke was at the annual DRAW Golf Tournament where he gave me a whole bag of tees. A couple I still have in my golf bag. I'll keep there there now forever to remind me of him.

Yes he had a TransAm for a number of years that had success with as John talked about. Think it was wrecked at Atlanta Dragway and he built a Chevy II that he raced until he retired from driving.
