Default 2018 Dodge Demon in Stock or Super Stock?

Greetings all. My wife has a 2018 Dodge Demon. Is there a Stock or Super Stock class she can run the car in? We race brackets now and would like to do some NHRA D5 stuff if possible. Thanks in advance.

Not until it is put in the book and has a HP rating, weight designation and specs. The Hellcat is in there. No Demon. Jim

Thank you Jim. How can a person find out if the Demon will be eligible for 2019?

Jim,
Are these cars in at actual 4,000 pounds plus weight or some fictitious lighter one?

2015 Hellcat in the classification guide shows a shipping wt. of 4,500 lbs.
Rated @ 600 H.P. makes it a 7.50 factor car.

Just for reference....a 2015 Drag Pack is listed as 3,200 Lbs. shipping wt. or 3,450 depending on the engine

I think FCA needs to make the first move on this, however I am not sure who to talk to.

You would know better than I but don't Demon owners get some sort of support number? If that is true you might give them a call.

Once the Demon is in the guide, you will need to make some other changes if you plan to race it in Stock.

You'll need an SFI Spec 18.1 harmonic balancer:

Quote:
Aftermarket SFI Spec 18.1 harmonic balancer mandatory in AAA/S through G/S and AAA/SA through G/SA. See General Regulations 1:2.
You're gonna need an NHRA-legal driveshaft loop and a steel driveshaft:

Quote:
Aluminum driveshaft prohibited except OEM. Carbon fiber driveshaft prohibited. Driveline loop mandatory in all rear-wheel drive cars. See General Regulations 2:4.
You'll need to go down to a 9" tire:

Quote:
Street-type or drag slick tires, maximum 9-inch tread width. Tires may not be altered from tire manufacturer’s original design or pattern. Size of tire (new) must not exceed 9-inch wide x 30-inch diameter (94-inch circumference).
You'll need to run it on gasoline that is on NHRA's accepted fuel list:

Quote:
NHRA-accepted racing gasoline only.
You'll need to run it with both front seats:

Quote:
Must have full factory-type upholstery for year/model claimed, including factory-type floor mats or carpet, door panels and headliner, and front and rear seats. Rear seat may be removed when roll bar is installed; area must be carpeted or upholstered equivalent to factory specifications (no bare paneling). Full-size aftermarket or corporate OEM front seats permitted; must be upholstered and supported. Driver and passenger-side seats must be identical in appearance. See General Regulations 6:2.
You're gonna need an NHRA-legal full roll cage with SFI Spec 45.1 roll cage padding and an NHRA-legal window net:

Quote:
ROLL CAGE Mandatory in any car running 9.99 or quicker. See General Regulations 4:4, 4:11, 10:6.

Roll-cage padding meeting SFI Spec 45.1 mandatory on any vehicle running 9.99 and quicker. Padding must be used anywhere driver’s helmet may come in contact with roll-cage components. See General Regulations 4:11, 10:6.

A ribbon-type or SFI 27.1 mesh-type window net is mandatory in vehicle requiring a roll cage. See General Regulations 6:3.
You're gonna need a valid NHRA competition license, a current SFI Spec 16.1 driver's harness, an NHRA-legal full face helmet, SFI Spec 3.2A/5 fire suit, SFI Spec 3.3/1 gloves, and an SFI Spec 3.3 neck collar or NHRA-approved head restraint system:

Quote:
Valid NHRA competition license mandatory for cars running 9.99( *6.39) or quicker.

Driver restraint system meeting SFI Spec 16.1, including crotch strap, mandatory in classes AA/S through M/S, AA/SA through M/SA, FS/AA through FS/L, all convertibles, and in any car running 11.49 or quicker. Restraint system must be updated at two-year intervals from date of manufacture. See General Regulations 10:5.

For all 9.99 and quicker cars, a full-face Snell M2010, M2015, SA2010, or SA2015 helmet mandatory; shield permitted (goggles prohibited). See General Regulations 10:7.

No open-toe or open-heel shoes or sandals. Jacket and pants meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/5 and SFI Spec 3.3/1 gloves mandatory in any vehicle running 9.99 or quicker. See General Regulations 10:10.

Neck collar meeting SFI Spec 3.3 mandatory in any vehicle running 9.99 (*6.39) or quicker or exceeding 135 mph. A head and neck restraint device/system may be used in lieu of a neck collar. See General Regulations 10:8.
There may be other requirements in the General Regulations section.

What modifications have you done so far, and how quick is it running?

Since the passenger seat and the rear seat are options on a Demon, I wonder if you really have to have a passenger seat?

I can't think of another example other than a van.

The classification guide currently lists the Hellcat as a 7.5 pound AA/S or AA/SA car, at 600 factored horsepower. At 4670 pounds, the index would be 10.70.

The Demon, if the current 85% policy is applied, would be factored at 687 horsepower. At 7.5 pounds per factored horsepower, it would need to weigh 5323 pounds. Based upon my experience as a drag racer, I'm guessing that having to add a thousand pounds of weight to the Demon will make reaching the AA/SA index a bigger challenge, lol.
