Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
Here's where Leo picked up his 7th nat event Wally, in Sonoma, 2018.
Trying to find video of Leo's 6th win, which was an All-Pontiac final against Brad Burton. So far, I can't find it. (https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2016#indextop Last edited by oldskool; 01-26-2020 at 04:30 AM. |

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
Can't find out a whole lot about this race, since it's not a nat event or Lucas Oil Series race. But there were several Pontiacs entered, & some good close-up pics. I saw Bill Foder, Bob Michael, Julie Biermann, Don Turk, & Rob Holmes, for sure.

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
I know that some don't particularly like the qualifying rounds. But I'm always very interested. I know that some hold back, sandbag, or whatever you wanna call it. Then a few seem to bomb their index by more than 1.2. Then there are some races where going real quick is not supposed to hurt you.
I don't know all the qualifying strategies & tricks. But, I always like to keep up with where the Pontiacs qualify. A quick look at this list showed at least 9 Pontiacs. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2015#indextop Here's the 3rd round of Stock qualifying, at the 2015 US Nats. Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
I've probably mentioned the All-Pontiac, father/son, Stock final. Brad beat Scott for the win at the 2012 Spring Vegas race.

I'll follow that up with this one, which is about that same race.

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
Here's a little video I found, which features a restored alum front end 421SD drag car. The guy calls it a Super Stock car. But, as we've seen, these cars were actually running in the Top Stock class.

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
And here's a video of one of the little 421SD factory built '63 Tempests, which was found & restored.

Re: Best Pontiac Powered Stockers
Found some short promotional videos of Stock/SS racing from the '60's. This one shows how the cars went from the 409 Chevies & 421 Pontiacs to the Mopar Hemi & Ford 427 powered cars, and how the FX class went wild, with anything goes match racing. There are a few Pontiacs here, but they're such a small part of this video, that probably only real Pontiac guys would even notice them.
