Default Ford HELP....

I am finishing our new car and am going to try to run the Stock 302 I already have.. I have already changed it to a carb setup, using a Parker Funnel Intake with a 650 double pumper... I also have a X303 cam for it... I will be using a MSD distributor, and 6AL ign. box... it will be mated to a P&A full Man. C-4 no brake with a 3200 TCI conv... the car has been tatefully lightened, doors gutted, QA1 tubular front end with thier Coil overs.. on the rear I have Soutside Lift Bars, and Dbl Adj Uppers... stock 8.8 with a 3.73 posi and M/T street slicks.. 26x10's...the car has had a full cage added to it, but anything not needed inside the car was removed.. all the harness, heater/ac box, guage cluster everythng..

I am trying to get this car to run high 11's I know I will need some more power.. thinking about a 125 shot of N2O..

do you guys think I can get there? or do I still need more engine???

This is being built to bracket race.. but since you guys are limited so much in the engine area I thought I would post here for some help..

Thanks

Freddie

you should be in the 11s easily with the 125 shot. I hope you got some good pistons though. my daily driven 302 ran 11.50s on motor, but now runs 10.90s

Are you using the stock heads(E7TE). If so you better junk them because those heads with a funnel web intake is goin to kill it.

for now yes they are stock e-7 heads... I am planning on getting a set of Aluminum heads but have to wait for the budget to allow it...

would I be better off leaving the Performer intake on it till I switch heads?

yes, you could use the performer or better yet the weiand stealth or air gap intakes are the best dual planes for a carb. You said you were goin to use the stock heads..... you will only get low to mid 12s on that 125 shot. Get a good set of alum heads, and you will be where your goal is.

thanks.. I have been looking for a set of older 351 W heads they had a little bigger valves, and bigger ports.. flow better than the GT40 heads.. if not I will wait till I get the Aluminum heads..

what year is this car? An older GT (83-86) or LX (87-97) may run high 11's where as a GT (87-93) (94-95) are heavier cars that may only go mid 12's. There is about a 400 lb difference among some of these cars.

the car is a 89 GT.. but has been put on a major diet... anything not needed to hold something down has been removed... the doors have been gutted and the windows pinned up in them then the interior put back over ... everything behind the dash is now gone... along with the stock front end in favor of a QA1 setup..

I figure I am about 450# lighter than when I started...

would love to get in the high 11's on the stock engine , without needing to go with a trans brake...
