My dad said he was the first racer to do the neutral start back in the mid 60's. Rip Ray.

As a young person hanging around Columbus, Ohio in the late 60s-early 70s, I saw Ray at national Trails a lot, with the different cars he had-he was a local legend and was always nice to my brother and I in the pits. RIP Ray, another part of my misspent youth gone to the great beyond.

In the late 50s and early 60s if you had a Mopar and wanted to win drag races, Ray Christian was one of the "go to" guys. He made it happen for many racers, RIP.

I can remember him at Kil-Kare almost every sat. nite in 65 with his HEMI cars. He flat towed with a 60-61 Chrysler with a 2-4bbl. engine that also ran very good. He made a big impression on me along with his friend Len Silvers.RIP

Angry Re: Ray Christian RIP

As a kid, I grew up in Harrisburg Ohio, 1/2 mile from Rays shop. I remember many school nights (LATE), he would take his Hemi cars out on the street and wake the whole town up. That was music to my ears as a kid.
A few years ago, he showed up @ Kil Kare with his car freshly painted bright yellow with over spray all over every thing, he tried to tech the car but failed because the slicks looked like the same ones from the 70s all dry rotted, he got pissed and loaded it up on the flat bed and goosed it, the 6 foot long wood ramps shot clear across to the other side of the pit road. It was funny. He was a true character and a local hero to me.
R.I.P Ray

Very Sorry! Ray did transmissions for us back in the 70's. There aren't any more Ray Christians around.
