Very sad to learn about this. Wayne was at Earlville about a month ago and was using an oxygen pump while doing fuel check and other tech duties. I always enjoyed tear downs with Wayne. May he rest in peace!

Always fair, always honest. Told it the way it was, but you knew he was pulling for you, especially in out of division races.

So sad to hear. Privileged and thankful to have known him. Thankful to see him in Earlville and Topeka this year and to have him in the barn with us rolling cam lift one more time. Straight shooting high quality man. Prayers for his family.

Wayne Lewis was a giant among all of the members of the tech crew. You always knew where you stood with Mr. Lewis. 100 percent by the rule book, always fair and honest. The loss of this great friend saddens me. His absence will be felt for many years in D-5 events. Godspeed Mr. Lewis, Rest In Peace.

Very sad news. As others have said fair, knowledgeable, calm and friendly. Such a great, dry sense of humor.

I will miss him but have many great memories.

RIP my friend.

Very sad to hear. At Earlville he did the chassis certification on my new Challenger. I always had much respect for his work, fairness and knowledge. He will be missed.

Sad news. Wayne always took time to answer all of my tech questions for many years. I will always remember sitting down with him in 2015 and going over jumping into SS with tech sheets on my current engine combo. Last year he was present during tear down when I set the record, it was truly an honor to have him taking measurements on the engine. His dry humor, made me a nervous wreck that day as he was measuring the piston, and bore and stroke. He knew he was messing with me, and he enjoyed every moment. I believe anyone that had been fortunate enough to have met Wayne, had the utmost respect for him. Prayers to his friends and family, he will be missed.
