Tom Baird
He hasn't been racing in a number of years but I'm sad to say that Tom Baird recently passed away.

Re: Tom Baird
I would stop at his shop when I was in the area, always greeted with a big smile, always a great conservation.

Re: Tom Baird
When I saw Tommy's name a day after Gregg's, I said to myself NO. I met Tommy back in 71, he was a regular at Hampton as I was but he was in a far different league. By 73ish, Hampton had a heads up Lbs per Cu In with different factors for wedge, canted and Hemi, kind of like a local Pro Stock which National had also, National's was called Pro Am, Hampton's was called Run Tuff. Tommy was one of the fastest with Dino Ramirez driving the Dino's Toy Chevelle most frequently taking the win, most of the others struggled especially the 67 Hemi GTX which had to weigh about 4,000 Lbs. They were in the 10.20 to 10.70 range most of the time and all 4 speed cars. I took these pics with my cruddy camera, the Camaro Is Tommy's and I'm pretty sure the Chevelle behind Dino was Tommy's first. I have a lot more pics but don't know where at the moment. I last saw Tommy at MG a while back and told him I would send him all the old pics I had but never got them to him, RIP old friend.

Re: Tom Baird
Sorry to hear about Tom, great guy who shared the love of stick cars with myself and many. Always a pleasure to see him and talk to him at the track. Nice to see the pic of his record certificate and Indy class win. Brings a smile to me and I am sure it would do the same for Tom. RIP my friend
