How about the Wenzel Bros. How cool would that be.

May 5th Clay City Ky.
We are trying to keep it small to make sure it' going to fit in good with the gassers. If it works out we will go at it full bore.

I was in Jr. High and not old enough to drive but I went the races and became a huge Mopar fan. Don Grotheer came to our local Plymouth dealer in 1970 and held a performance clinic, he had his new 70 Cuda Pro Stock there.
This was in the small town of Walla Walla, WA and I was able to attend. I still have the clinic brochure and it is something I will never forget. I wish I would have taken pictures.

No Automatics throws me out.
Me 2 ! I spent to many days and nights repairing rears, drive shafts, trans, just so I could go break another. But that was before the good stuff and rules we have today.

I'm sure you understand that the Corvette pictured could have run either Altered OR Gas, depending on which Eliminator the team chose to run.
As pictured, the Corvette shown could have run D/A in Competition Eliminator or E/G in Modified Eliminator with no changes. I expect you were unaware of the difference.
Unlike SEGA, NHRA never made straight axles a requirement for participation.
I was working with someone who wanted to build a Thunderbolt for your Super Stock class but cannot comply with your continuously arbitrary suspension rules.
Like you inferred.....You Don't Need Them Anyway!
D/A cars ran in Modified Eliminator as far as I know. I don't remember which eliminator C/Altered cars ran in so I won't comment.

A and B/Altered cars competed in Competition Eliminator. Weird. Anyone know why? X-Tech Man?

My memory of racing before the loss of Modified Eliminator was SO Clear that I had to drag out a rule book before I made my first post.

+1
I could deal with the stick shift only, BUT...
No traction bars also.
NOW we can break some parts on anything but a MoPar with an adjustable pinion snubber. Did they have those in '67?
Let's see.....do I spend a lot of $$$$ (and time) building my own leaf spring only setup or bolt on a set of traction bars like they ran in 1967.
Makes perfect sense to me.

I would like to thank the Southeast Gassers and Scotty Richardson and the crew at Mt. Park Dragway for sticking it out and putting on a great show in Clay City, Ky. this past Sunday. It was supposed to be run on Saturday but we got a little over 3" of rain Saturday, it was still raining on Sunday morning. The Gassers stayed and the track crew got the track dried out and they went racing. First time I've seen them, awesome show. Hope you guys come back next year!
