Default gear or converter

My car is a little lazy of the line. I have a 414 sbc. 1.76 powerglide. 14-32 slicks. Rear gear 5.13. 60 foot times range 1.52 to1.55. My converter stalls instantly to 4500 on the brake and creeps up to about 5000.

Again it leaves lazy, I think. I would like opinions on weather a rear gear change (deeper), a converter change (looser) or a lower tranny gear would be best.

thanks Greg.

WTF does that mean, Greg? This guys trying to help you and you bash him. Your motor is light on compression,, your camshaft is on the small side for a stroker small block, your converter is a little tight, and you come on here asking for help and you blow somebody off when they respond to your question. So much for getting any help here, I'm thinking.
Good luck with your project which ever way you decide to go.

I choose option 4, all of the above. A 3 speed trans would probably make the most difference if you're only changing one thing.

It means take the time to explain yourself...like you did. Your input is helpful. You think the camshaft is small for a stroker small block. 1320 said it had to much duration. Also you think the converter is to tight.
Another guy said a three speed might be best.

The engine makes good power and torque despite the low compression. Its easier to change gears and converters than camshafts and compression.

So which would benefit most gears or the converter?

Lower 1st gear would be my choice. What RPM are you running thru the traps and is it where you want it to be?

I am turning 6900 rpm. I could probably afford to turn it a little higher say 7500 rpm.
