So much for getting any help here, I'm thinking.
Good luck with your project which ever way you decide to go.

It means take the time to explain yourself...like you did. Your input is helpful. You think the camshaft is small for a stroker small block. 1320 said it had to much duration. Also you think the converter is to tight.
Another guy said a three speed might be best.

The engine makes good power and torque despite the low compression. Its easier to change gears and converters than camshafts and compression.

So which would benefit most gears or the converter?

Lower 1st gear would be my choice. What RPM are you running thru the traps and is it where you want it to be?

I am turning 6900 rpm. I could probably afford to turn it a little higher say 7500 rpm.

Aside from addressing larger tasks in that combo......... It would cost nothing to borrow some smaller carbs and see if that helps............

You could go another 1000 on the stall rpm. Changing to a lower 1st will mask that a bit also. The carb is to small for a 414 cu engine tuning 7000rpm also.
