What Gearing in T/S
Building a T/S car.It will be all motor NO nitrous..Thinking of a 632 around 1100 to 1200 hp.We are going to Run 1/8 mile most..We will also have a Powerglide Trans.weight around 2400lbs. What gear do you think we will need..
We are tinking of going with the 17x33.5x16 tires .We have beedlock wheels on it. We just bought the car rolling and We took the rear end out yesterday and it had a 4.86 in it.We also got a 4.10 with it.But we think we may need something in between.

A 4.56 will be fine you could run the 1/8 and 1/4 with those gears.

Re: What Gearing in T/S
Just out of curiousity why are you building a motor with no nitrous. With the way the classes are hopefully headed - $ for $ I would say build it with 2 systems from the start and never worry about it again. Much easier to do now and not really any more money.
Just my thoughts I could be wrong |

Re: What Gearing in T/S
The motor will be built for Nitrous if we decides we want to use it.But we are not going to use it at any Divison races plus we will Bracket race it to..Maybe at some Local races like 4.70 classes or something like that we will try Nitrous..We are just looking for 4.90s to 5.0s 1/8 mile if it runs faster great. We do not plan to run any National events because the bumbs spot is so fast for us..
We will run are 10.90 car at National Events. Just looking for a gear to start with on all motor.

Re: What Gearing in T/S
If you want to do the math this is the web site with the formulas you need http://www.golenengineservice.com/html/calculators.html .
most of the Top Sportsman gears I have set up are 4:33. but most use nitros so do the math and don't overestimate the rpm potential of that 632. I would gear the car fo the quarter because if you add more gear for the 1/8 mile you will lose some consistency. Good luck
