I assume you mean spread axle. Most trailer manufacturers are building and pushing spread axles. IMO it's a marketing gimmick and I had one manufacture admit that. Probably was started by one of the many Forest River trailer companies. Once one did they all did it and others followed. I would think that if there was anything to it, Goldrush and T&E would be doing it.

Turning with a spread axle is brutal on tires and hard on rims, studs etc. The only plus I see is your spreading the load over a larger area. For race car trailers that's a minor advantage. I'm old school, give me springs and hangers, something that can be fixed in a parking lot if need be.

I talked to Goldrush about it and they basically said the same thing. I believe that too. Now with that being said, I have what is called a "mini spread" on my trailer and I love the way it looks and rides. My other trailer seems to fight the tires more than this one. No problems w tight turns, backing, etc. It distributes the weight a little better and seems to track very well (not much sway). lots of good complements on it...
Spend the extra $ on 16" tires you wont be disappointed.

Bought a Mini spread to put behind my motorhome, tows great and actually looks nicer than a standard 2 axle. Putting the axles a bit further away can do nothing but make the trailer track better. Though I agree that the "real" speads look as though they would be hard on tires when making tight turns, I've noticed nothing like that with the mini spread also went 16 inch tires.

I'm curious how far apart the mini spread axles are. I just picked up a 28ft and axles are 36 inches apart. My buddy has a similar trailer and his are 33 inches.

Functionality aside I agree the spread axle trailers do look great.
