Default Looking for pontiac cylinder heads

I am looking for pontiac cylinder heads #96. I believe they only came on 1968 firebirds and maybe GTO's. Any information would be helpfull.

Rick you are looking for Pontiac heads???? Wow what a change for you.

BTW, I have a new ride. It is a 1965 GTO with an alcohol injected motor. 541 cubic inches. Runs 8.80's at 150 MPH. I sold my other 1965 GTO. Car is NHRA Super Gas legal.

You might want to make this post on www.performanceyears.com. It is a Pontiac only bulletin board. Post it under performance parts wanted and the race section.

Good luck.

Ron

they are 71 model heads. they work great on a 455! if i remember right they make a 455 something like 9.5 or 9.75 . great for a street car ;->

The 1968 Ram Air II heads were also a "96" casting. I have seen quite a few sets on E-bay. Expect to pay a pretty good chunk if you find any. This would be a good a great candidate to have a "replacement" head added by the NHRA.

forgot about those early round ports. were a firebird deal only I think. very limited if on a goat. I'd take the later 71 heads on a 455 too. that was a big swap 15 plus years ago with no aftermarket heads available. sold my Pontiac stuff then, had a big collection, all gone now. GTO prices are out of reach to me now.

just remembered still have my pontiac racers and super stock handbook among other pontiac books.
1968 casting 96 heads ram air II first round port exhaust. 72cc chamber firebird or GTO. good luck.
1971-2 casting 96 heads 400 low compression.95 cc chamber standard big valve, great for a 9.5 to 1 455.

You can try Taylor Engines in New Jersey, at 908-213-3456.
They are Pontiac specialists.
Ask for Jim Taylor.
