Broken Axle on Trailer outside on Knoxville
Trailer broke a hub and tore up axle west of Knoxville on I40 exit 388. Anyone know a axle place open on Saturday in area? Thanks

Mitch, I am 20 miles south of Knoxville as I write this post. Axle Surgeon of Tennessee will come to you and make the necessary repairs....If you are in the DIY mode, Northern Tools is my first suggestion.

Axle Surgeons is a Franchise, and have done us right in the past.
Tom Rix turned us on to them about a decade ago. Axle Surgeons of Knoxville Dave Haar (423)443-2442 or (865)938-9787 tollfree: (877)FIX-AXLE (877)349-2953 They have fixed our trailer axles a couple of times (different axles). Never had any issues with their work and whole heartedly recommend them. |

Re: Broken Axle on Trailer outside on Knoxville
Update on Mitch. He made it 250 miles to our place on three wheels. He lightened the trailer by dumping all water from tanks, putting stuff from trailer into truck and driving 55 mph, and putting tires at max pressure. While he was on his way here I started gathering parts to repair trailer off of my pile of used 7000# axles. Long story short- fit bearings to axle, set preload best we could with the treads we had, welded nut to axle, and fill cap with grease. We had to rob 8 nuts off of my stacker trailer to mount wheel, my hub is 9/16 studs not 1/2 that was on his trailer.
He drove 700 miles yesterday to other side of OK city. |

Ahh, racers... the best people on earth. One of the last remaining families where true sportsmanship and helping your neighbor can still be found. You're a good man, Larry.
