Re: God speed Al Kuehl
RIP Al, you helped us get the green car on the race track before we turned her green. I still remember that day I made my first 3 passes in that car at Marion. I want to say I’ve had some success in that car and you were apart of that success. Our love of German Shepard’s gave us other things to talk about other than racing. Tell we meet again my friend.

Re: God speed Al Kuehl
Al was a friend that gave me a lot of help. He could make almost anything....build a trailer, back half a car, you name it...he could do it. Al had a unique perspective on things, was his own man and did things his own way. If you knew him for any length of time you'll have "Al stories" that make you laugh and shake your head at the same time.
Al won Super Stock at the Topeka NHRA national event one year with his '69 Nova, beating Dwight Southerland in the finals. Al bought that Nova new and it was the only car he ever raced. Rest easy, old friend. Thanks for all you did for so many of us.

A good man gone! Al was a unique individual. But, if he called you a friend, you were a friend for life.
Rest in peace, my friend! #5458 Curt Rees

Re: God speed Al Kuehl
So sorry to hear this. Al tied the frames on my old Dodge and fabricated numerous parts for me over the years. He had a dry sarcastic sense of humor and alot of good stories. He was fun to race and pit with.
Gods speed old friend.

Re: God speed Al Kuehl
I’m blessed to have known Al and been witness to a few Al stories. He was one of a kind, a great American, a good friend, and a kind hearted person. Being in Topeka when he won Superstock and celebrating with him (and a bunch of stock/superstock pillars) is a top 5 on my all time drag racing memories. Thanks Al. Godspeed.
PS-Whenever I see a q-jet carb, I see Al pulling metering rods from his shirt pocket with a little notebook……….and some words of wisdom.
