Acceptable starter voltage drop?
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what is acceptable for voltage drop from the battery to the starter while it's cranking? I've been chasing gremlins all season and the drop in my car is 1.1 volts. I heard that anything over 0.5 volts is trouble but I'm curious if anyone's measured this?
Thanks

Re: Acceptable starter voltage drop?
You must have a min. of 10.5 volts at the starter under crank. The .5 volt is correct for voltage drop

Re: Acceptable starter voltage drop?
Hi Ted,
Sounds like the TNT deal has taken off. Kudos to you! We may have to make a trip to Ontario in 2010 with the car and jump in. I saw your note and thought I might pipe in. How old are your batteries and what are you using? What are you reading at the batteries? Mike Ferstl SG SR 6091 |
