Question 460 Ford

Hey Ford guys-is a mid 80’s 460 out of a truck(Holley carb) legal to build for a SS GT engine? Do not see it in the classification guide, just wondered if anyone has looked into it. Or does anyone use a ‘74 engine with a Holley carb? Kinda new at this, exploring different combos. Thanks for any insight you guys can give a greenhorn.

The 460 with Thermoquad is a KILLER combo!

You would not go wrong with that = If I only was a FFFFord
racer.

Can't use truck engines in GT...but give it time ..They'll probably open that up too

The 80-87 truck block and crank you can use. Not sure on the 88-97 efi truck blocks how compatible those are with the ‘early version heads.

As posted above, the thermoquad version ( 1974 only) is the go to favorite in GT trim.

As I remember the 460 EFI heads have a higher exhaust port exit close Ro 3/4 to 1 inch.
