COVID Vaccine poll?
5 hours ago Linda and I got our first of two COVID vaccine shots at a local community college event sponsored by our County health department to inoculate all residents who are part of North Carolina's phase 1b plan.
Yea, we're really old folk's. Neither of us have any injection site pain or for that matter any of the reported symptom's. I hope all of the drag racing community can get the shot soon so that we don't have to be distracted about infecting others or getting sick when we are competing. Has any one else had or are scheduled with an appointment to get the shot? Chuck Last edited by Chuck Gallagher; 01-07-2021 at 05:12 PM. Reason: spelling |

Wife and I are 1A and unable to make an appointment as yet. Glad for your sake NC apparently has a better plan in place.

Re: COVID Vaccine poll?
The wife and I both received our Covid 19 Moderna vaccine shot on Monday Jan 6.
The Amarillo TX operation was setup by FEMA and was really good for an operation for something like it setup by the Government. The only question we were asked to enter for the shot was if you were 65 or older. The wife and I both fit that category and above. We were in and out in less than an hour. It was like clockwork. In line maybe 10 to 15 minutes. Sitting socially distanced filling out a front and back one page sheet with personal info etc. 10 to 15 minutes Getting the shot card filled out with info with a person verifying the info on our drivers license. maybe 5 minutes Getting the shot from the RN Nurse, who was very good and her filling in our cards with the info on the shot lot, date and time. maybe 5 minutes She told us to keep the cards for the follow up shot in 28 days. She also said we should take a picture of the card and keep it in our phones as at some point we may need that or something like that to get on an airplane or to enter some government buildings. Then out to the last room to self time a 15 minute time to see if there was any reaction to the shot and we were out. I had a regularly scheduled physical scheduled on Wednesday Jan 8 and it took well over 2 hours in and out without any shots. So by the comparison it was easy to get the Covid shot. The RN said in 7 to 10 days we should be 40% to 50% protected and after the second shot it would be 95%. The Dr. on Wed. told me he had his first shot that morning and that in a week or so he should be protected to 90%. He also had the Moderna. I am not sure who to believe on the protection. Both indicated for now we still needed to wear a mask and socially distance if we were out and about. Just Our Experience Rick Cates Canyon, TX Last edited by 63corvette; 01-07-2021 at 05:36 PM. |

Re: COVID Vaccine poll?
I have been contacted by the VA hospital in West Haven, CT, which is where I receive my healthcare. Due to the fact that I am 73 years old and I have asthma; I will be among the second group to receive the vaccine (after those who are older and have more serious or more numerous underlying conditions). Hopefully, I will receive the first shot by the end of the month.

Re: COVID Vaccine poll?
Amarillo TX ran out of vaccine on Thursday evening and no shots were available on Friday.
I think they started out last week mid week with 10,000 doses. It was announced on the 6 pm news that 1000 more shots will be available on Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm. FEMA is doing a good job in Amarillo. Rick Cates Canyon, TX Last edited by 63corvette; 01-08-2021 at 09:39 PM. |

Re: COVID Vaccine poll?
The VA has them available. I'm staying home and putting my garden in. Someone else can use my shots.
In my family, 4 cases....all appear to be OK. My grandson and granddaughter, both police patrol officers. Another granddaughter that is a RN. And my great grand daughter... they should all be fine.

Re: COVID Vaccine poll?
On Fox news today, two gorillas is a San Diego zoo tested positive for COVID19. How in the hell do you put a swab down a gorillas nose?

Re: COVID Vaccine poll?
Oldest daughter gets hers on Friday. She is not a bit concerned, she is a BCBA that works directly with autistic children and parents of same.
